Raymarine, a world leader in marine electronics, are continuing their support of the J Boats fleets by sponsoring the J/80 World Championships next week.
Hosted by the Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble, the regatta commences on Monday 10th July, with 50 entries anticipated, half of which are travelling boats from across Europe and even an Autralian team.
Raymarine will provide a selection of high value prizes for the final prizegiving, to be held on the terrace outside the sailing club’s smart new Prince Philip Yacht Haven. Gemma Dunn from Key Yachting, the J Boats agent in the UK, said “Raymarine Racemaster and Tacktick systems are fitted to most of the J/80s we deliver here. They are the go-to, easy to use, easy to read displays for these boats.”
Competitors will be treated to a practice race on Monday morning, then in the afternoon the first of up to fourteen races throughout the week. The solid home fleet boasts a number of top sailors, including Kevin Sproul, Jon Powell and Chris Body.
“Our high performance wireless electronics give J/80 racers the crucial information they need to make quick decisions in this highly competitive class,” said Harry Heasman UK & Ireland Sales & Marketing Manager Raymarine. “We wish all the boats involved in this year’s J/80 World Championships a successful event and we look forward to celebrating the commitment of these talented crews.”
