J/80 World Championships 2017: Event Preview

Hosted by the Royal Southern Yacht Club, in conjunction with the UK J/80 Class Association.

The 16th edition of the J/80 World Championship, is proudly hosted by the Royal Southern Yacht Club. 47 teams from Australia, France, Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Spain will be competing. 14 races are scheduled to take place in The Solent, providing four days of top class racing for a truly world class fleet. Magnificent Seven for J.A.T!

Kevin Sproul’s name has been etched on the J/80 Open National Championship Trophy for the seventh time. Racing J.A.T., the Scottish helmsman scored no lower than a fourth in nine races, to win the UK National title in a fleet of 21 boats. Jon Powell’s team, racing Betty, is the runner up, just a point ahead of Olympic Silver Medallist, Luke Patience, racing Ryoko Meka. Continue reading

J/80 Nationals 2017 – Entry Open!

The Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble will host the 2017 J/80 Nationals from 16th-18th June, and entry for the event is now open. This is likely to be a hugely popular event, as it comes less than four weeks before the J/80 Worlds – also hosted by the Royal Southern – and two months before Cowes Week. So it’s an ideal opportunity to hone your skills and gain valuable race winning experience on the Solent. Continue reading

Entry open for 2017 J/80 World Championships!!

The Royal Southern Yacht Club (RSrnYC) is delighted to announce that online entry for the J/80 World Championships in 2017 is now open!  The Championships are open to the Members of the J/80 Class as defined by the J/80 Class Rule (C3.3) and entries will only be accepted via the event website: http://www.j80worlds2017.com.  The closing time and date for entries is 23:59 on Friday 12th May 2017.    Continue reading
